Every newspaper article, every health blog, every magazine you’ve ever read never fails to extol the importance of fruit & veggies in your diet for a healthier you.

We don’t disagree…overall! But when it comes to weight-loss, especially Do-It-Yourself Weight-loss, which is what we’re all about, we urge you to look at the vast world of fruits & veggies with a slightly jaundiced eye.

To elucidate, lets first take a quick look at the calories in some raw ‘healthy’ veggies…

Calorie Counts of some Common Veggies

The point we’re trying to make here is that while all veggies & fruits are healthy, some are more calorie-rich than others. And therefore, naturally, when you’re trying to lose weight & calorie-watching like crazy, it never hurts to focus on the low-calorie options (mostly always leafy green veggies) and avoid the ones below:

So, Veggies to Avoid would be : Potato, Sweet Potato, Peas, Carrot, Yam (jimikand), Colocasia (arbi), Jackfruit (kathal), Beetroot & Turnip

And with Fruits, you’d be wise to stay away from : Mango, Banana, Grapes, Pineapple, Sapodilla (cheeku), Muskmelon, Litchi (lychee), Mandarin (Kinnow), Rasberry.

So go forth n lose weight now, people![/two_third]

PS: And oh, stay away from Water Melons after 7 pm, they may cause water-retention overnight causing you to wake up with an extra 1/2 kg to torment you the next morning.
