If you have been following my blogs you would know that I spent the last fortnight battling up with perhaps one of the biggest weight loss demon – A Plateau. I had geared up with all the arms & ammunition and was ready to emerge out victorious.
And now the million dollar question – Was I successful?
Damn right I was ☺ I lost 1.1 kg (Yep those 100 grams are precious too) in the past 15 days by following the plan I mentioned in my previous post.
Today I want to share with you additional tips apart from those I mentioned that really helped me.
1. Fennel (Saunf) Water
This recommendation came from a friend and when I googled it, I was quite surprised to find that this commonly found herb in our kitchen is a store house of goodness. All you need to do is soak half a tea spoon of fennel seed in a glass of water overnight and drink it the first thing in the morning. Fennel seed being a diuretic also helps in relieving water retention and suppresses appetite too. I have been doing this religiously every single day ever since.
2. Ditch the Stilettos & Flip flops
I wore my running shoes everywhere I went, be it grocery shopping, meeting family or even out on dinner.
The idea was to be able to take advantage of any opportunity of walking and that too at a brisk pace. The fact that my feet became softer & I got rid of the summer tan was an added bonus 😉
3. Meet my new pal – A Weight Loss App
Okay, so I knew Apps like this existed but for some reason I just didn’t get around to using them. And boy am I addicted to it now. You can keep a track of the total calories consumed in a day. When I started tracking, I realized that there were days I was eating way less than what I should have been..no wonder my metabolism had gone for hibernation. Record anything you taste, eat or smell…ok the last part is a bit of an exaggeration 😉
4. Metabolism Boosters
To begin with I restarted with minimum 3 cups of green tea everyday. Along with this I ensured that everyday I would include one or some of the below items in my diet: red & yellow peppers, broccoli, green chilli, chick peas , black beans , apples & lemon.
5. Whey Protein
After reading about numerous benefits of whey protein I eventually added it into my diet. It supposedly helps you lose fat while preserving muscle & reduces hunger. I got mine in dark chocolate flavour and absolutely love it.
Instead of having it as a supplement I use it as a meal thrice a week and I must say its quite filling and I don’t feel hungry for a long time after a glass of this shake.
I really do hope that these tips help you fight the plateau so that you continue on your path towards a healthier & fitter you. Till next time…Eat healthy and stay fit ☺
