4 Reasons You Need To Consume Garlic Everyday

Garlic, an age old herb has been used as medicine to prevent a wide range of disease. It is one of nature’s most powerful medicine with varied benefits.

1. Lowers blood pressure

Angiotensin II in body increases the blood pressure by helping our blood vessels contract. Allicin, in garlic inhibits the activity of Angiotensin II and helps in reducing the blood pressure. It helps in detoxification and healing. Also, red blood cells convert the sulphur containing compounds present in garlic to hydrogen sulphide. This hydrogen sulphide dilates the blood vessels and thus helps in keeping the blood pressure under control.

2. Cardio protective property

The production of free oxygen radicals, formation of tiny clots due to fatty deposition, etc leads to the development of atherosclerosis i.e hardening of the arteries (plaque formation). The sulphur containing compounds in garlic like allicin, ajoene etc acts against the damaging effect of free radicals and prevents clot formation. This in turn prevents blockage of the blood vessels and slows down the development of atherosclerosis. It also has the ability to moderately lower our blood triglycerides and total cholesterol and reduce arterial plaque formation.

3. Helps prevent food poisoning

Fresh garlic plays an important role in preventing food poisoning by killing bacteria. They help control bacterial, viral, fungal, yeast and worm infections.

4. Boosts Immunity

Allicin, an important compound in garlic is known to have anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-fungal and anti-oxidant properties. Garlic increases the fighter cells known as T-cells in your body. It reduces the severity of cold and flu and helps you get rid of it.

Note: Garlic is likely safe for most people when taken orally. Over consumption of garlic may cause bad breath, gas, nausea, a burning sensation in the mouth or stomach & body odor.
